Previously, I had decided on the title: She means business. Today we will visit the topic to demonstrate the reason why I chose that title and the process behind it. As a refresher, my magazines genre is Fashion & Style. The message or purpose behind it is to empower women, specifically Hispanic women around ages 25-50.

  • She Means Business: Demonstrates professionalism and confidence. It would represent Hispanic women as serious leaders and entrepreneurs, especially mothers (the range of my target audience) who balance career success with family life.

  • Built to Lead: Emphasizes leadership as natural instead of something learned. It makes Hispanic women capable and confident. I feel that Hispanic women are stereotyped as dependent on their husband and this breaks that stereotype.

  • Ella Poderosa: Highlights the strength of Hispanic women. I specifically like this title because based on just the words you know it's about Hispanic business women. The downside of the title is that not everyone will know what it means since we are not in a Spanish speaking country.

  • In her Era: The title suggest that these middle aged women are now in their prime. Many women are under the impression that they are old or "expired" when their thirties begin. The downside of this title is that it has no hint of business or Hispanics.

  • Lead like Her: This title puts Hispanic women in a position to be role models. I also admire how the title already suggest that the women are business owners or entrepreneurs, but it doesn't show the Hispanic side.

  • Like a Boss: Reflects the ambition and authority of the Hispanic women. It challenges the stereotype and is modern. The downside is that this name is very popular and overused.

At first, I considered using an English title, She Means Business, because it strongly represented leadership and women. However, after I reconsidered the options above, I have changed my mind. Ella Poderosa, which translates to "She powerful", has caught my attention and I have a vision for it. For my cover, I will underline "poder", which means power, and color "rosa", which means rose, in red. I'm looking forward to creating it.
