Equipment and Props
March 22, 2026 For my magazine photoshoot, I kept my equipment and props simple but effective. Since my magazine focuses on a clean and stylish aesthetic, I chose items that would match that look without making the images feel too crowded or distracting. For all of my photos, I used an iPhone 13 as my camera. Even though it’s not a professional camera, it still takes very high-quality pictures and was easy to use. It also allowed me to quickly adjust lighting, angles, and fra

Contingency Plans
March 21, 2026 Managing this magazine and blog has been something I’ve really enjoyed, but it hasn’t always been easy to stay consistent. With everything I have going on in my life, there were times where I had to step back and focus on other priorities. Because of that, it was important for me to think about contingency plans, or backup plans, for when I wasn’t able to keep up with posting or working on my magazine. One major situation was during spring break. I went on a lo

Permissions
March 14, 2026 For this blog, I am preparing for my final creative critical reflection. Here is my mom approving: Permissions are important when uploading things online, even though it is immediate family. I look forward to creating the podcast.

Mood Board
March 13, 2026 The images I chose show women wearing fall outfits, like coats, neutral colors, and accessories, usually in city or cozy settings. These images represent the idea of Ella Poderosa being about confident and stylish women. The fall vibe also helps show change and growth, which connects to the idea of a woman improving herself and becoming more powerful. The warm lighting and calm settings make the magazine feel relaxed but still high-end. I also included things l

Film Industry Case Study
March 12, 2026 For this assignment, I chose Universal Pictures as the big production company and NEON as the smaller one. Universal is a huge, older studio that makes big movies for everyone, while NEON is newer and focuses more on unique or indie-style films. The four movies I used are: Oppenheimer and Wicked (Universal) Anatomy of a Fall and Longlegs (NEON) These show how both companies work really differently but still succeed. Location and Set
March 10, 2026 In this blog post, I will be showing you pictures of the location of my photoshoot. The photoshoot will be taking place in my backyard, kitchen, and living room. This is where the photoshoot will take place. It matches my color scheme very well. I look forward to inputting the pictures into my magazine. Also, the pictures will be taken during day time to have the best lighting.

Cast & Crew
March 10, 2026 The casting process is very important to my magazine because it directly impacts how people will view my magazine. My models are a reflection of the magazine and my magazine is a reflection of them. Since the start of this process, I have had my cast in mind. I will be the photographer, editor, and writer. My models are my mother and my aunt. They are both Hispanic, entrepreneurs, beautiful, and inspiring. They work so hard they inspired my magazine genre and f

Target Audience Survey
March 6, 2026 For this blog, I made a survey to figure out what my target audience is and what they are interested in. This will help me know what to talk about in my magazine to keep them hooked and entertained by the content. It contains 15 questions and my goal was to have more than 20 responses, in the end I got 21 responses. I attempted to send it to many people, but the results might not be completely reliable because I know a limited number of adults, which is who I su

Table of Contents
February 11, 2026 For this blog, I'll be analyzing two different table of contents (TOC) of magazines from the same genre, Fashion. We are focusing only on the table of contents page for these magazine and analyzing them in specific detail. This will give me inspiration and a guide to look at when doing my own table of contents page. I will focus on Vogue and Elle which are very well known fashion magazines. Number of Images: 1 Description of Image: The image shows a fashion

Masthead Typography Research
February 10, 2026 Today, I will be researching and analyzing different fonts for my magazine masthead. I am going for an elegant, moving font. A font that adds power to my title that focuses on empowering Hispanic women. Serif fonts give the audience a sense of trust and reliability. This is not exactly what I'm aiming for but let's view some fonts and analyze them. I arranged the fonts in order from most favorite to least based on looks. My title will be tested with the font

Magazine Name Ideas
February 9, 2026 Previously, I had decided on the title: She means business. Today we will visit the topic to demonstrate the reason why I chose that title and the process behind it. As a refresher, my magazines genre is Fashion & Style. The message or purpose behind it is to empower women, specifically Hispanic women around ages 25-50. She Means Business: Demonstrates professionalism and confidence. It would represent Hispanic women as serious leaders and entrepreneurs, es

Magazine Cover: Research
January 28, 2026 In class, our assignment today is to analyze our top two choices of genre for our magazine. We are doing this by getting two images of covers of each genre and compare/contrast the elements. I am analyzing two Food & Beverage magazine covers and two Fashion magazine covers. I focus on cover elements like mastheads, puffs, barcodes, fonts and central images. Food & Beverage These two magazines both fall under the Food & Beverage genre. One is "Cuisine Tonight"

Audience Profile Analysis
January 23, 2026 In today's class, we learned how every magazine is created with a specific audience kept in mind. Every image chosen, color, fonts, and headlines are meant to attract a certain type of audience. For this blog post, I will be analyzing the audience profiles of two magazines from the genre I have chosen for my portfolio, Fashion & Style. By examining their demographics and psychographics, I can better understand who the magazines are targeting. I will then crea

Deciding on the Genre
January 9, 2026 Last blog, we left off that I hadn't decided what genre I wanted to do for my magazine. I was almost sure on fashion, but I allowed myself some time to think over and decide if I'd rather do food. I truly felt enlightened the day of the photoshoot for fashion. I enjoyed every aspect of it, like choosing the outfits, the background, the pose, the camera angle, and more. I did not think of it as an assignment, more so like an experience. So, to make my decision
