Now it's time to analyze the little details in my top two genre choices for my magazine, which are "Cooking Food, and Beverages" and "Fashion and Design". In my last post, I analyzed the overall concept of genre covers and what their focus is. In this post, I will be looking closely at, not only, the codes and conventions, but also the graphic elements of an example cover of my liking for each of my top two choices. I'm hoping that after this post, I will have chosen what genre my magazine will be.

Cooking, Food, and Beverages:

Fashion and Design:

After looking at both covers and breaking down their codes, conventions, and graphic elements, I feel like I understand a lot more about what makes each genre stand out. The "fashion and design" cover focuses more on poses, patterns, and creativity. The "cooking, food, and beverages" cover focuses on close-ups that make the food look appealing to the audience. Both genres have a very unique styles, yet similar graphic elements. I am leaning towards basing my magazine on fashion, but I remain uncertain. Analyzing the details in both made me better prepared to make my own magazine, regardless of which genre I end up selecting.
