Now it is starting to get real. We have been doing a lot of research and for the purpose of developing my magazine further, I'll be creating a sketch of how my magazine cover will look like. Though I am not the best at drawing, I'm fairly content with how my sketch turned out. I'm not fully convinced on the colors I used, but I can still take inspiration from it. Here is a picture of my sketch:

Masthead: As discussed in previous blog posts, my masthead is "Ella Poderosa and the font is Bodoni 72 Book Italic. I placed it in the top above the model. I also mentioned how I wanted the "rosa" in "Poderosa" to be in pink, and that is what I did. I drew it in black then gave it a pink shadow. I also added a subheading under the masthead. It gives more of an insight as to what the audience will find inside the magazine: "Luxury with Latina Confidence".
Date: In the gap in the masthead between the "E" and the "L" I put the date. Since I suspect I won't be done with the magazine in March, i put "April 2026". I put April in all caps in an italic thin font.
Coverlines: My sketch contains many different cover lines. I am still unsure if it looks crowded or informational. I outlined some in aa thought bubble shaded purple. In the bottom, I added a quote to reel my audience in further: "Style that speaks before you". The coverlines are meant to further motivate my audience, saying things like: "Command the room", "Yes, you can", and "Bold, Brilliant and powerful".
Main Image: My main image is my model in a confident pose with her hips swayed to the side and her face angled down while looking up fiercely. My drawing abilities greatly limited her outfit. I don't want my model wearing jeans or a plane colored shirt but that is, unfortunately, all I know how to draw. Speaking honestly, my model also looks nothing like either of my models, which was again due to my limited drawing skills.
Barcode: I placed the barcode in the bottom right hand corner of my magazine cover to avoid it interfering with my message and model.
In conclusion , this sketch allowed me to calm my nerves as I now see a path to what I want my magazine to look like. As discussed, my sketch does contain flaws but it is overall very helpful in serving as a guide for the real thing. This process allowed me to take a glimpse as to how creating my real cover online in going to go. I think in the online magazine the main image will look very different but my coverlines, masthead, and barcode placement will be relatively the same. Completing this sketch made me look forward to doing the real thing as I enjoyed this process and coming up with clever things for my coverlines. Thankfully, the final magazine cover will not be limited by my drawing abilities.
